THE HORS IN THE FARM OF RUSSIAN MILITARY POPULATION OF THE TARA IRTYSH REGION: ARCHAEOLOGY AND WRITTEN SOURCES

Among themilitary population of the Tara Irtysh region, the horse had a great importance, both in terms of military service and its use in economic activities. However, archaeological materials and the results of archaeozoological studies based on its show an insignificant percentage of the use of horses in the economic activities of the population, and in the countryside it is 10 times higher than in the town. The involvement of written sources, on the contrary, showed the significant role of the horse in the economy. The entire militare man and civilian population, both town and villages, kept at least one animal, provided it with feed from livestock pastures and hay mowing. Some military man had herds of more than 10 individuals. The horse was used as the main vehicle, draft animal. With the construction of the Moscow-Siberian tract, the role of the horse increases even more.
