HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ASPECTS OF THE INTERACTION OF ARCHEOLOGY AND ETHNOGRAPHY IN RECONSTRUCTION ANCIENT HISTORY OF THE POPULATION OF THE KOLA PENINSULA*

Ethnographic study of the population of Russian Lapland began much earlier than the archaeological one, and until the beginning of the twentieth century prevailed and even subordinated its tasks and interests. The situation has changed since the middle of the last century, when archaeological work intensified as a result of the research of A.V. Schmidt, B.F. Zemlyakov, N., N., Gurina. By the beginning of the XXI century, archaeology, equipped with modern natural-scientific methods, in cooperation with anthropology and paleogenetics, took a leading position in the reconstruction of the ancient history of the local population. And this is quite natural, since archaeology, as one of the divisions of historical science, studying mainly the oldest, pre-written stages of human development, enriched with modern scientific methods, acquires priority in these issues. Although both disciplines are historical, they have different objects and subjects of study, so the interaction at different stages has changed, and now it is increasingly weakening.
